Lina's actions
Planning
Eat Me First
I will create an "Eat Me First" area in my fridge to prioritize food that needs to be used right away.
Planning
Portion Planning
Use a portion size guide to ensure appropriate portions when cooking. I will cook 2 portion-appropriate meals.
Cooking
Revive Limpy Produce
Rescue limpy produce like leafy greens or carrots by soaking in an ice bath.
Cooking
Stale Bread: 10 Ways
Don't throw out those few pieces of stale bread. Repurpose them to use as breadcrumbs, soup thickeners, or croutons. I will try 3 stale bread recipes.
Cooking
Veggie Scrap Stock
Store vegetable scraps in your freezer and use them to make veggie stock. I will make this recipe 1 times.
Planning
Fridge Inventory
I will keep a fridge inventory to stay up to date with what I have in my fridge before I go grocery shopping.
Planning
Food Donation
I will donate extra food. If you or your work place are hosting a catered event and have trays of extra edible food, there is no need to toss it. With a little planning your celebratory feast can help feed others.
Planning
Eat the Leftovers
I will plan an Eat the Leftovers night by creating a tasty “smorgasbord" or using a recipe that repurposes leftovers. I will eat 4 meals using leftovers.
Planning
Meal Prep Mania
I will meal prep 4 meals.
Cooking
Save the Peels
When life gives you lemons (or any other citrus peels), use the rinds to make a nontoxic cleaner.
Cooking
Fruit Smoothies
Freeze fruits nearing their end and use in smoothies. You can even try freezing avocados (see Resource)!
Food Waste Tracking
Food Waste Tracking
Ready. Set. Record!
For each day during the food waste tracking week, record your food waste. This action accepts one entry per day, so be sure to enter one total for food waste across all of your meals, or weigh all of your food waste once at the end of each day. Please use ounces for unit of measurement.

Lina Pean 2/21/2020 2:49 PMI definitely go to the grocery store and try to buy enough where I can make it and eat it all within the week. Saves me money and food from spoiling. Also helps to keep my fridge less packed and more clean! -
Lina Pean 2/21/2020 2:47 PMI have extra snacks at the house that my boyfriend and I can't eat fast enough so I take them to my brothers house where they have more ppl in the home to eat them. -
Lina Pean 2/21/2020 2:46 PMWhen I make dinner, I make extras to make sure I can take it to work the next day for lunch. It prevents food waste, and helps to portion my food. Definitely try to cook based on what is nearing going bad lol. -
Lina Pean 2/11/2020 4:07 PMOn Sunday I cut up fruit to meal prepped a fruit salad for the week. To help me eat healthier. For the apples and pears, I kept them with the core so there's still plenty of fruit left and juiced them with celery stalks and carrots I had in the fridge. So Used up all the excess fruit that I would've tossed. Used the vegetables before they were able to go bad.
