To keep bananas from browning quickly, break up the bunch and separate. Don’t store bananas with apples, which speed up ripening. If the stems came covered in plastic wrap, do not remove the plastic until ready to eat as this will slow the release of ethylene gas. I will properly store 5 bananas.

    One thing i have really enjoyed with this challenge is sharing food tips with others. These are all people who already do a really good job of not wasting food, but there is always something to learn :)

    Has anyone felt like they are really trying to get the most of their veggies? I was making an  eggplant dish, and really tried to get as much of the eggplant closest to the stem. The remaining went to the compost, but no joke, In my past non eco challenge life i would have cut 1 inch off the top and move on with my life... :)

    Yesterday I went out to eat for lunch and didn't need to do any prep work.... Suprisingly knowing that I had no food waste made me pleasantly happy :)

    Yesterday,  I purchased a loose leaf green tea in the am from a local coffee shop, and i probably made an extra 6 cups of tea throughout the day with my handy electric kettle by reusing the bag. Needless to say i had a nice green tea caffeinated day.

    Today we had a breakfast potluck and i had purchased some overly ripened avocados. My natural inclination was to toss them out, but i was able to salvage what i could from them and people still love their avo.

    I see a complete mind shift to not immediately throw away my leftovers or scraps without thinking I need i need to take ownership of what I'm doing. It may not exactly change the action per se, but there's at least some thought behind it :)

    Today was really tough. While we did really well in preparing breakfast, we went to the market place and purchased a ton of different snacks. I’m hoping we can consume them all or distribute them to someone that can use it...

    This long weekend will be a pretty big challenge since I will be with my friends and will be sharing food together. I thinking ahead of how many days we will be eating in and going out, so we don't purchase extra and sending it to waste... Hopefully by not going to the store hungry will help with that ^_^
