Technology can help address food waste! Check out this article on food waste rescue from the Super Bowl!

Last night, I used eggs when cooking dinner. The "best by" date said December 28th, but after checking online, I found out the eggs were still fine to eat!  The advice I received from a quick Google search was to do a  "smell test" after cracking one egg as long as it was only a few weeks after the "best by" date.

I always put them in a bowl of water to see if they float or not! If they float, no bueno!

The Q1 2020 EcoChallenge starts today!  Last night I gave some lettuce an ice bath and used the "eat me first" section of my fridge to kick off the challenge.

I had a great time volunteering at the Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank this weekend: https://sandiegofoodbank.org/about/green-initiatives/. In addition to supporting food security in our communities, they also have a composting and recycling facility.

This weekend, I used up ingredients from a recipe I made last weekend by making the same dish for another event to prevent food waste because otherwise, I might not use the ingredients. The ingredients were from the "eat me first" section of the fridge!

Made a skillet tonight with cabbage and potatoes from my "Eat Me First" section of the fridge!
